Post-wedding shoot: Part II

Hi everyone, I am back with the second part of our post-wedding shoot! You can read about Part I here.

As mentioned in Part I, it started raining 20 minutes into our shoot. T_T We still persevered with the first look (the gown you see in the previous post), but by the time we lugged back all the props into our condo (in the rain, no less!), hubby and I were already feel quite down and frankly speaking, exhausted. Dejected, I actually suggested to just call it a day. 'Cause the rain was really quite a mood-dampener, and I felt bad for putting hubby through it.

Thank god he and our photographer (I love you, Jane!) were incredibly supportive and encouraged me to go on with the shoot. If not you won't be able to see the beautiful photos below. T_T

As usual, ENJOY!

I actually never got to wear a veil for my wedding. *sniff*

Long story, but I wasn't allowed to for my ROM (as hubby was in mourning), and we didn't have enough time during the wedding reception for me to change into my white dress. So this photo is actually more meaningful to me than you know... :')

I got these crowns a few years ago, always intending to use it in my engagement shoot!

For my second look, I wore my white gown (the same one I wore for my ROM!); and for my third look, I went for an ice blue embellished short dress. I originally intended to wear this short dress for dancing during the wedding reception, but I found another dress instead, HAHA. Story of my life! :P

One closed eyes, one looking at camera, one looking at dunno where. *sweat*

LOOK AT THE DETAILS OF THIS DRESS!

The base is very structured organza, with a french lace overlay, and then covered with more lace patchings, lattice lace and floral appliqué... EXQUISITE.

I got this from a bridal shop at the Wedding Street in Guangzhou by the way-- it was love at first sight!

Giggling away 'cause look at my stupid dog-- facing the wrong side to the camera as usual!!

My custom gown came with detachable tulle off-shoulder sleeves (can be worn as capsleeves as well). For my ROM, I wore it strapless. :)

Big love for this candid shot!

By the way, you might notice that I am wearing my Sophia Webster heels without the ankle straps here... I lost one side of the strap while we were shooting for the first look. T____T I told you it was quite an episode setting up and shooting (and packing up!) in the rain!

Does anyone know where I can find some silver ankle straps? T___T

That's all for our post-wedding shoot! It was incredibly fun to do it-- even if I *almost* didn't go through with the entire shoot. Pretty sad that it is over, but I am working my charms on persuading hubby to do an anniversary shoot each year... *wide-eyed innocence* HAHA!

PS: I will be blogging about ALL the planning and details of my wedding after this, hope you guys enjoy it! :)

Wedding guest outfit.

Here is what I wore to a wedding recently! The dress code was smart casual, but I didn't really trust the hubby 'cause 1) we lost the wedding invite FOL; and 2) men are just clueless about these kind of things LOL.

In the end, I decided to err on safe side and wear a pretty lace dress in a soft romantic color...

What I have been up to in the past 10 months.

Okay, I can't even believe it myself... I haven't blogged in 10 months. :O
That has to be some kind of personal record. -_- Not that it is anything to be proud of wtf.

I have been still micro-blogging all these while though-- am quite active on Dayre! So you guys can catch all my shenanigans in the past months there. *weak laugh* I think the thing I struggle with the most is separating content between my blog and Dayre. Often, I find myself blogging on-the-go on Dayre, and by the time I want to blog-- I feel like I have nothing else to say FML.

But a recent incident kind of opened my eyes. I wanted to search for something from a few years back-- and literally by typing a few keywords, I can retrieve what I want from my past blogposts easily. T_T Whether it is by going through my blog archives or via Google, all my memories and albums are neatly categorized, easily accessed by me whenever, wherever. On the other hand, whilst Dayre is incredibly convenient to blog on-the-go, it is still not a platform that purely belongs to me. Call this a wake-up call, but it reminded me that my blog is still my baby, and it will be meaningful to nurture it-- even if it is just for the sake of my own memories. :)

Soooo.. in the meantime, I have kind of came up with a "strategy", if you can call it that. I am going to keep searchable content (travel tips/ travelogue, milestones, reviews etc.) and detailed outfit posts on the blog, whereas my Dayre will be more for daily updates-- as I assume you guys won't feel inclined to search for what I had for lunch last Wednesday lol.

Okay? Let's gooooo.
To start with, let me start with a recap for the past 10 months WTF.

October 2015 (this was when I last blogged huhu)

  photo 1510-1_zpsfpc2ps20.jpg
Bobo's birthday dinner! This is an important event because:

1) It was the beginning of a blossoming friendship between Audrey, Bobo, Careen, Weizhi, and I.

2) It started a tradition of us throwing a not-so-surprise birthday party for each girl. :)

3) It was also from here that I started to dabble in styling/ decorating parties, and developed a love for it!

 photo 1510-2_zpslpbmqfjo.jpg
Very quickly, the five of us became very close, and it was sometime this month that we named ourselves #competitiveaunties.

November 2015

December 2015

Threw a surprise birthday high-tea for my mom. As you can see, I was slowly getting addicted with styling parties haha.

This was also a month filled with weddings-- I LOVE WEDDINGS!

January 2016

 photo 1601_zpsyemgszef.jpg
Took business class for the first time in my life! Well, actually I have taken it once before when I was a kid (sponsored by my dad's medical conference), but that doesn't count 'cause it was just a 45-minute interstate flight LOL.

Went to Guangzhou to do some wedding-shopping 'cause my parents insisted that there are loads of wedding stuff to buy there! Which reminds me, I want to do a post on the famous Wedding Street in Guangzhou. :)

February 2016

 photo 1602_zpsxulta8fd.jpg
Wedding-planning officially started! We did our ROM back in 2014 (click here to read a sneak peek post), but the wedding receptions (both a Western and Chinese one) were to take place in mid-May 2016.

March 2016

 photo 1603-1_zpsfuhkem9r.jpg
Went to Guangzhou AGAIN haha. Just to wrap up some wedding shopping, and it was during this trip that I accidentally found my dream gown. :O Which I bought of course, haha.

We got married!! :D :D :D

Definitely will do a proper blogpost on all the wedding celebrations-- let me know specifically what you all want to read about!

 photo 1605-2_zpsab23uzal.jpg
We also went on a faux honeymoon the Barcelona and Madrid! Faux 'cause-- my family decided to tag along FOL hahahaha. But oh well, we will plan for another REAL honeymoon soon then nyehehe.

 photo 1605-3_zpsnrjgftux.jpg
Definitely one for the books-- hubby and I went for a Coldplay concert in Barcelona itself! This was sooo awesome. Can I blog about this? Will anyone be interested? Haha.

June 2016

 photo 1606_zpswusuqf9g.jpg

June was definitely a winding-down month from all the excitement of our wedding and fantastic honeymoon. We still managed to squeeze in a post-wedding shoot with Rocky though! :D

*******************************************************

And here we are, in the month of July!

Obviously the above is a super succinct summary of the past few months, but the general highlights are there LOL.

Ending this entry with an outfit post...

Wedding Talk: My engagement ring.

Almost exactly a year ago, the boy proposed to me! I haven't blogged about the proposal yet (*bad blogger*); however, today, I am going to talk about my engagement ring.

Save for this photo that I shared on my Instagram, I have never posted a photo of my ring before:

 photo photo17_zps09624b1c.jpg
Everyone commented on how big the rock is, haha. It's not true! We took the photo with a flash, hence the halo of diamonds made it look super unrealistically big haha.

Anyway, here is a photo of the ring:

 photo photo15_zps815d5088.jpg

Well, the thing is, while the ring is really beautiful, I didn't feel that it was ME. When planning the proposal, the boy consulted help from Teeny.... who for some reason didn't try to sneakily find out what sort of ring designs I like. T__T

Instead, she gave him some random Tiffany & Co. design that I showed her more than 10 years ago. T___T To make matters worse, she took one of my rings for the boy as measurements' sake for the engagement ring, and I don't know which ring she took-- 'cause the ring is 4 sizes too big for me. T______T We took it back to the jeweller (who is the boy's aunt, hurray!), but it was impossible to resize it to fit me perfectly as it was too big and has diamonds down both sides of the ring. The boy's aunt could only reassure me that when I get pregnant, my fingers will swell and then I can fit into the ring WTF.

My ring was kept in a safe since. It does make me feel sad sometimes, when I see other girlfriends flaunting their engagement ring, whereas mine did not even fit properly. Not to mention, I felt immense guilt inside for not LOVING my ring.

The boy did tell me on the night of his proposal to feel free to change the design of the ring. But I steadfastly told him no. 'Cause I would feel really bad for doing so, I think! It's kind of like cheating on the original ring wtf.

Anyway, it wasn't till a dinner with Kit Mey end of last year in Singapore that I revisited the idea of changing my ring's design. Kit Mey also did a mild modification to her engagement ring (by adding some diamonds to the band), and she reassured (practically forced, haha) me that it's completely okay to redesign my ring, that I should LOVE my ring and be proud of it, and that I am the one who has to face it for my whole life.

And y'know what? SHE IS RIGHT!

I went back to the boy that night, and asked him whether it's okay that I redesign the engagement ring, and he said okay. And thus my ring research started. I will have to emphasize here that I had NO idea what sort of rings I like. So in a way, I can't blame Teeny or the boy for not knowing my ring tastes at all. In fact, even Jing, who probably has the most similar style preferences to me, admitted that she wouldn't know what sort of ring I like as well! Which is why although Carrie Bradshaw said in Sex and the City before: "Wrong ring, Wrong guy", I wasn't affected la hahaha.

Anyway, during my research, I realized that I don't have a penchant for platinum rings (which is what my ring is made of). Instead, I kept on gravitating towards... ROSE GOLD. Now this is a BIG problem. It would be much simpler if I were to recast my ring i.e. melt the platinum and make a new design. But changing to rose gold is a whole new level of complexity (and cost)! Not to mention, rose gold is so uncommon. What if I regret it in 5 years? 10 years? I was so scared and almost chickened out of the whole ring-redesigning idea.

Nonetheless, I have a ring design (in rose gold) that I like, and I showed it to the boy as I wanted his blessing for the new ring design that I would end up with. At the same time, I managed to find a photo of a platinum version of the same ring. I was quite nervous, 'cause the boy hates gold, so I told him that I am okay with a platinum version too. And he told me that the rose gold version is much nicer, and that I should just get something that I really love, that's all he wants for me. Bless him!

So I took the plunge, and sent in my ring for a complete makeover early this year. And yes, I decided to throw away all my worries about rose gold and just GOLD FOR IT (haha). Yes, rose gold is not a classic choice for brides, but I am not a classic girl anyway! I am sure some people will not agree with my choice, but at the end of the day, it is MY ring, and I know what I want best. :)

Well, very recently I got back my ring... And ladies and gentlemen, this is the FIRST time I am revealing it!

 photo photo16_zpsb26ef698.jpg

TADA! It's really simple, but so delicate and beautiful. And I don't regret getting rose gold one bit! Since young, I have always preferred gold to silver/ white metals anyway. In fact, almost all my costume jewellery are gold, so this would go with my existing accessories collection much better. :)

 photo IMG_2067__zps6f487f6e.jpg

And that's the story of my engagement ring, hehe. Am admiring it as I type this post LOL.

Speaking of engagement rings, I will be updating about my wedding-planning real soon! Am thinking of popping by at KLCC this weekend as they are having a wedding expo from Fri-Sun (25-27 April), and will definitely make a pitstop at Wedding.com.my's booth to redeem a gift. :D
