Living room tour.

Quite a few of you have been asking for a house tour! Since I did an update to my living room recently, I thought I would start with a tour of one of our favorite rooms. :)

Backstory: for Chinese New Year this year, I decorated our living hall in a myriads of Oriental prints and colors like red, yellow, blue and pink. I am honestly SUCH a procrastinator, 'cause we have been living with our CNY decor for the past few months. *sheepish*

Finally, I decided enough is enough, and took down our CNY decor plus did some minor updates here and there to keep our hall looking fresh yet still cozy!

Presenting the place we hang out the most as a family... *drumroll*

 photo DSC00986_zpsoeggzvjp.jpg
Decided to go for a more neutral, soothing color palette this time! Before this, our living room was really colorful for Christmas and Chinese New Year haha.

 photo DSC00988_zpsn4ypd2yw.jpg
We have quite a few chairs/ stools lying around 'cause we like to host our friends/ family over. :)

Let's zoom into some of my favorite details...

 photo DSC00998_zpswwfiadwu.jpg

As mentioned before this, we need to have a lot chairs in our hall as we host quite often. As opposed to placing more sofas/ armchairs, I prefer lightweight seats that can be moved around! So that our guest can be mobile and choose to move to the balcony, dining area, hall etc.

I love this Tobias chair from Ikea-- because it is transparent, it doesn't look obstructive and kind of "opens up" the space. 'Cause I can imagine it would look quite odd to have many chairs in the living room, but this is so discreet, it's almost as if it is not there! It also adds a touch of modernity to the room. :)

 photo DSC01010_zps7fvgx6ri.jpg

I love the ideas of greenery in our house! Unfortunately, I have the antithesis of a green thumb. -_- No joke, I have killed 6 cactus plants in my life before WTF. My solution? Artificial plants *blows nails*

I got this Fejka one, and placed it in a rattan basket. The whole house instantly looked a lot more homey!

 photo DSC01001_zpsgpdvnjpk.jpg

Soooo... This is actually a bedside table (Hemnes from Ikea) HAHA. I know it is a little unconventional, but it actually works perfectly for us as a side table!

I love how it displays our vintage-looking speaker so nicely. In the drawer, we keep some of our hall necessities like batteries (for remote controls), tape etc.

 photo DSC01006_zpsjeenyjfj.jpg

When we hang out in the living hall watching movies or chatting, sometimes we lose track of time! So it is imperative to have a clock out on display. This Skovel one works well for us. Instead of hanging it on the wall, we got a clock stand (you can find it in a watch/ clock shop) and perch the clock on it. :)

 photo DSC01024_zps27yiyt5n.jpg

I love love love this gold side table I got from Australia. YES, I lugged back a table from Australia hahaha. And in the frame is our wedding invite illustration! I still get all kinds of feels when I look at it heh.

I highly recommend getting a decorative side table, and display things according to your mood! You can always change things around, and it keeps things looking fresh. :) You can try a similar one from Ikea like this Gladom model (it comes in a few colors too!).

 photo DSC01014_zps4bdaolxk.jpg

If I can give only one tip to instantly jazz up a room-- it is to get a carpet/ rug!!

Best way EVER to instantly add a homey touch, and also make the space look so much more inviting. I got this Lappljung one 'cause the prints are very interesting, yet the monochrome hues make it easy to match different decor. :)

 photo DSC01032_zpsxbs47spk.jpg

This Tejn fur rug adds on such a cozy factor to our home! Depending on my mood, sometimes I like to drape it over chairs, or layer it with rugs on the floor.

Bonus: It makes a great background for Instagram flatlay HAHAHA.

 photo DSC01017_zpsbvodwuwd.jpg

Other than the sofa and coffee table, a TV console/ bench is probably the most vital part of a living room!

We like one with storage capacity-- we keep all the unsightly things inside to keep the room looking neat. Definitely recommend the Mostorp!

 photo DSC01034_zpsxbmzjyvm.jpg

We watch TV in our living room, and it can get chilly sometimes with the aircond on. A Hermine throw is the perfect solution! It feels so cozy to snuggle under a throw and watch our favorite shows. :)

 photo DSC00992_zpstpsq5kdi.jpg

I like displaying a tray on our coffee table-- other than decorative purposes, it is also a great way to neatly "store" your necessities like remote controls, tissue etc. This Romantisk one is big enough for me to display quite a few things in it.

 photo DSC01027_zps1dzlg7yn.jpg

If you can't tell, I love my cushions!! They are such a fun way to add some colors and print and FUN into your space. :D I got a matching one with our rug 'cause I love the prints THAT much.

 photo DSC01023_zpskc3mr2fv.jpg

Other than our bedroom, we spend the most time in the living hall! So it is really important for us to make it look and feel comfy. :) And it should feel really inviting to guests too! I guess our home will always be a work-in-progress for me haha.

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy my living room tour! Please let me know if you would like to see more posts like this. :)

My honest review of the Entertainer app.

Balloon-sleeved wraparound blouse: AZORIAS
Brocade skirt: Guangzhou
Gold bangle: Kate Spade
Ring: H&M
Ikat woven heels: Zara
Bag: Chanel

I am always on the lookout for unique white shirts/ blouses, 'cause white tops = best basic ever. This one checks ALL the right boxes for me-- feminine, comes with a twist, versatile (it can be worn on and off the shoulders), and it if even formal enough to be worn for black-tie events (imagine it with a full maxi skirt and a strand of pearls)!

I actually think this blouse is very Caroline Herrera-- I LOVE. It is currently open for back-order on AZORIAS, so don't miss out on it!

On the same day, hubby and I visited Huckleberry Food & Fare at Plaza Damansara. I have been there once, and really enjoyed the food, so I thought I will bring hubby there (his first time), and also capitalize on the Entertainer app's buy-1-free-1 promo!

The Entertainer app is an app which offers buy-1-free-1 promotions for all participating outlets, spanning across F&B, beauty services and even hotel accommodation-- for 1 whole year. So it is best for you to purchase the app at the beginning of the year so that you have 1 whole year to use up all the promotions haha.

I got the app early this year, and honestly, it has brought me fairly good bargains at some of my favorite restaurants. BUT, I notice that some of the more popular restaurants actually don't honor the promotions. >:(

For example, Breadfruits in Sri Hartamas, told me that "the (promo) service is unavailable" when we visited on a busy Saturday morning. This actually doesn't make sense, 'cause from my understanding, the app requires a pin number from the user (me) and a pin from the restaurant (the merchant/ restaurant) to "unlock" the promotion. It doesn't require any "service" or "connection" from Breadfruits' end as the pin number is entered into the app on my phone.

Another instance, I went to Ante in 1 Utama, and we were told that the promo is only applicable specifically on the mains section of the menu-- which is a total of 4-5 types of ribs/ steaks, although there are other mains options such as pizza, pasta, burgers, sandwiches etc. in the other sections of the menu. This was quite annoying for me 'cause I actually went there to have pasta. And under any normal circumstances, a burger or pasta would be considered mains right?

Also, there were instances of of staff heaving huge sighs when I flash my Entertainer app discount-- like I am a huge annoyance. I have experienced this with some San Francisco Coffee and Chatime outlets, to name a few. Thanks, but I don't really appreciate being treated like a nuisance or a cheapo for using a promotion that I paid for.

With that being said, there are still excellent promotions being found on the app. In this case, I would like to commend Huckleberry Food & Fare for being extremely accommodating and laid-back when I wanted to utilize my buy-1-free-1 promo. They literally told me that I could use the promotion on ANYTHING on the menu-- despite having different sections in the menu like Mains, Pastas, Breakfast etc (just like Ante). They also took my order and applied my promotion with a huge smile on their faces-- and not treating me like a second class citizen. So yes, huge thumbs up for Huckleberry!!

Anyway, like I have mentioned, I still think it is worthwhile to get the Entertainer app (if you like to eat out often). But I do hope that the management of the app can keep tabs on the participating restaurants to make sure everyone actually honor the promotions given-- with a smile on their faces.

adidas Breathe and Stop.

Sponsored post

Recently, I had the honor of being invited to a very special adidas Originals event.

Adidas Originals got three of hip hop’s most influential DJs and the country’s best dance crews to set Kuala Lumpur ablaze as one of the destinations of its ‘Breathe and Stop’ tour. The Breathe and Stop tour, which takes place in five of SEA’s most iconic cities, kicked off in Bangkok on August 4th, and had Kuala Lumpur as the second stop.

On 10 Aug, as part of the Malaysian leg, fans were treated to an exclusive meet and greet with the DJs at the adidas Originals Concept Store in KLCC. And I was so lucky to be one of them! I know of many people who would loved to be in my shoes. :)

When I said exclusive meet and greet, I really meant it! We really got to get upclose and personal with three of hiphop’s most influential DJs:

Shortkut (from San Francisco), MASEO, and Ali Shaheed Muhammed (both from NYC).

I am going to briefly run you guys through the sheer brilliance of these DJs!

MASEO.

MASEO is a grammy award winning MC, DJ and Producer for the legendary hip hop group - DE LA SOUL, which has have received Soul Train, MTV, and Grammy award nominations. He has co-produced some of the most iconic hip hop albums of all time and is world renown as a heavy weight party rocker, which is not surprising at all, if you watch the video below:

We are always complaining that clubs in KL don’t play good music, and aaah, when I saw this video, I was like, THIS IS WHAT WE NEED!

Shortkut.

Shortkut is the founding member of 3 of the most iconic and influential DJ crews in history - Invisble Skratch Pickles, World Famous Beat Junkies and Triple Threat. He has claimed numerous titles, notably the 1994 and 1998 US/West Coast DMC Championships (watch the video below for one of his routines for the DMC Championship).

Shortkut’s contribution to the DJ world and culture is unparalleled, and in 2007, he celebrated 20 years as a DJ, producer, DJ equipment designer, and battle champion. 20 years! 20 years ago I didn’t even know what is a turntable wtf.

Ali Shaheed Muhammed.

Ali Shaheed Muhammed is grammy award winning DJ & producer, and one of the most notable mention of him, is that he is a founding member of the legendary hip hop group-- A TRIBE CALLED QUEST. He has also created some of the most influential albums in hip hop history, and has also remixed songs for Janet Jackson Maxwell, Maroon 5and KRS-One!

It is easy to see why he is a crowd favorite:

Some pictures from the meet and greet session:

Autographed postcards! Yes, the three DJs also gave out autographs for their fans during the session.

I felt like a papparazi, snapping behind-the-scene photos of the dancers that will perform in Stage (where the DJs will be spinning), hehe.

I spy Ashley, with her super cool hair!

Adidas Originals Breathe and Stop. :)

Dancers having a pep talk. Loving the energy!

I like this picture—check out the hug in the middle. It’s like ‘we are homies yo!’, hehe.

With Ashley, her boyfriend, and Joshua.

I also took some style shots during the event:

Major girl crush on her! Love the hair, the shaved sidecut, the gold accessories, everything!

All the dancers dressed really well. I like the exaggerated racer back of the girl’s blank tank—sexy!

Happy corals tick all the boxes for me.

Aah, another girl crush! She is so sassy and spunky, and love her dimples. And damn, looking at her abs, I wish I picked up dancing. T_T

Sneakily put in my own narcisstic style shots hehe:

Wearing lemon peplum top from AZORIAS with batik print shorts, and some neon colored accessories.

Tada, there’s a surprise to the back of my peplum top!

After the session, there was a dance showdown where awards will be handed out for the best individual performance, best teamwork, best crew and best outfit of the night. Local DJs also spinned and added some Malaysian flavor in the night’s local edition of ‘Breathe and Stop’.

For more photos of the Breathe and Stop event, check out their Facebook page here.

Now if you will excuse me, I am going to listen to tracks that are spinned by the guys below!

Begone, bad hair days!

Sponsored post

Usually, if you see me with my hair in an updo, it could only mean one thing—BAD HAIR DAY.

Outfit details here.

Skirt from AZORIAS, peplum top coming soon on AZORIAS.

Yes, pretty outfits, but ugly hair. :( I have rebonded my hair end of last year, and the effects have slowly worn off. I have no plans to rebond it anytime soon though as I know it’s really bad for my hair-- but the trade-off is that I am often ashamed to leave my hair down.
Thus, I was ecstatic when I was introduced to the Panasonic Nanocare Hair Dryer. I have to confess right here and right now that I am not a fan of hairdryers. I have really thick hair (my sisters and I have compared before, I have like 3-4 times more hair than them. -___- Disclaimer: Head only ar wtf), and blowdrying my hair is typically an unpleasant, drawn-out chore. Worse still, hair dryers usually leave my hair very dry and frizzy, which is a nightmare when my hair is already poofy from the volume! However though, the staff at Panasonic actually told me that my life will never be the same again with this hairdryer.

When I heard that, I was like , and she was like .

I read up a little on why this hairdryer is called a ‘miracle product’ by the people who have used it, and I learned that this is because the hairdryer actually draws moisture from the air to produce nano-sized moisture icons that will infiltrate hair better—making hair glossier and healthier.

Using the Nanocare hair dryer also helps to reduce the amount of sebum on our scalps—perfect for people who have dandruff! I.e. me FML. I have a mild dandruff condition since I dyed my hair recently (hairstylist was forced to leave the hairdye for super long on my scalp as my hair was being stubborn and didn’t absorb the color), and as a result my scalp was irritated. In fact, tests have shown that with usage of this hairdryer, moisture in the scalp has increased by 15%, and sebum has gone down by a whopping 75%! Getting more and more excited to try out this hairdryer!

Also, as hair is moisturized from within, it makes our hair midly acidic—which is actually the ideal condition for hair (I didn’t know this!). It also works to protect our hair cuticles. In short, the nano-sized (1 over one billion!!) moisture functions in many ways to result in silky, smooth hair!

Armed with all these newfound knowledge, I put the hairdryer to test:

Panasonic Nanocare Hairdryer, you have found a new fan in me.

I wish that the video has a 4D effect wtf, ‘cause if you can touch and stroke my hair, you will understand why I am going gaga over this hairdryer. I don’t think I have ever achieved this type of results at home without going to a hair salon!

Retailing at RM239.90, it may seemed pricier than a lot of the hairdryers in the market—heck, that was my first thought when I first saw it. But I guarantee you, this is a hairdryer like no other. Teeny has also tried it out, and even she, the ultimate cynic wtf, agrees that the hairdryer really delivers what it promises.

Community service message: She also would like me to tell you guys that it is a lot quieter than most of the hairdryers she has tried wtf.

It is also foldable, so you bet I am going to bring it with me to ALL my trips.

I can barely contain my excitement that I will never have to suffer from another bad hair day again. :’)
