adidas Breathe and Stop.

Sponsored post

Recently, I had the honor of being invited to a very special adidas Originals event.

Adidas Originals got three of hip hop’s most influential DJs and the country’s best dance crews to set Kuala Lumpur ablaze as one of the destinations of its ‘Breathe and Stop’ tour. The Breathe and Stop tour, which takes place in five of SEA’s most iconic cities, kicked off in Bangkok on August 4th, and had Kuala Lumpur as the second stop.

On 10 Aug, as part of the Malaysian leg, fans were treated to an exclusive meet and greet with the DJs at the adidas Originals Concept Store in KLCC. And I was so lucky to be one of them! I know of many people who would loved to be in my shoes. :)

When I said exclusive meet and greet, I really meant it! We really got to get upclose and personal with three of hiphop’s most influential DJs:

Shortkut (from San Francisco), MASEO, and Ali Shaheed Muhammed (both from NYC).

I am going to briefly run you guys through the sheer brilliance of these DJs!

MASEO.

MASEO is a grammy award winning MC, DJ and Producer for the legendary hip hop group - DE LA SOUL, which has have received Soul Train, MTV, and Grammy award nominations. He has co-produced some of the most iconic hip hop albums of all time and is world renown as a heavy weight party rocker, which is not surprising at all, if you watch the video below:

We are always complaining that clubs in KL don’t play good music, and aaah, when I saw this video, I was like, THIS IS WHAT WE NEED!

Shortkut.

Shortkut is the founding member of 3 of the most iconic and influential DJ crews in history - Invisble Skratch Pickles, World Famous Beat Junkies and Triple Threat. He has claimed numerous titles, notably the 1994 and 1998 US/West Coast DMC Championships (watch the video below for one of his routines for the DMC Championship).

Shortkut’s contribution to the DJ world and culture is unparalleled, and in 2007, he celebrated 20 years as a DJ, producer, DJ equipment designer, and battle champion. 20 years! 20 years ago I didn’t even know what is a turntable wtf.

Ali Shaheed Muhammed.

Ali Shaheed Muhammed is grammy award winning DJ & producer, and one of the most notable mention of him, is that he is a founding member of the legendary hip hop group-- A TRIBE CALLED QUEST. He has also created some of the most influential albums in hip hop history, and has also remixed songs for Janet Jackson Maxwell, Maroon 5and KRS-One!

It is easy to see why he is a crowd favorite:

Some pictures from the meet and greet session:

Autographed postcards! Yes, the three DJs also gave out autographs for their fans during the session.

I felt like a papparazi, snapping behind-the-scene photos of the dancers that will perform in Stage (where the DJs will be spinning), hehe.

I spy Ashley, with her super cool hair!

Adidas Originals Breathe and Stop. :)

Dancers having a pep talk. Loving the energy!

I like this picture—check out the hug in the middle. It’s like ‘we are homies yo!’, hehe.

With Ashley, her boyfriend, and Joshua.

I also took some style shots during the event:

Major girl crush on her! Love the hair, the shaved sidecut, the gold accessories, everything!

All the dancers dressed really well. I like the exaggerated racer back of the girl’s blank tank—sexy!

Happy corals tick all the boxes for me.

Aah, another girl crush! She is so sassy and spunky, and love her dimples. And damn, looking at her abs, I wish I picked up dancing. T_T

Sneakily put in my own narcisstic style shots hehe:

Wearing lemon peplum top from AZORIAS with batik print shorts, and some neon colored accessories.

Tada, there’s a surprise to the back of my peplum top!

After the session, there was a dance showdown where awards will be handed out for the best individual performance, best teamwork, best crew and best outfit of the night. Local DJs also spinned and added some Malaysian flavor in the night’s local edition of ‘Breathe and Stop’.

For more photos of the Breathe and Stop event, check out their Facebook page here.

Now if you will excuse me, I am going to listen to tracks that are spinned by the guys below!

Olympics- The Fashion Aspect.

So lately the world has been buzzing with news about Olympics' 2012. Unfortunately, as the Olympics' opening ceremony was the day before Aud's wedding and I was stuck in Penang with no cable TV, I completely missed it! But that didn't stop me from catching Mr. Bean's cameo on Youtube wtf.

Another thing that really garnered my attention is the fashion side of the event-- the uniforms!

Since some people coined me a 'fashion' blogger, I thought I might as well live up to the name wtf and do a post on some uniforms that caught my eye-- for good or for bad...

Beginning with the host country:

Great Britain

The uniforms are designed by Stella McCartney, who under normal circumstances can do no wrong, due to her simple minimalistic aesthetics. For some reason, I can't find pictures of the official formal uniform though, so these athletic versions will do. I have no comments as I am too distracted by the abs of the girl.

USA

Designed by Ralph Lauren, which explains the preppy demeanor, I guess. I am mildly disturbed by the beret, but overall, I think the uniform lacks personality-- without the flag, the uniform could literally belong to any country!

Moving on to my top 3 favorite uniforms (in no particular order):

Netherlands

You would think that orange pants would be so wrong, but somehow it works. I think everything looks really sharp and pulled-together, yet still adhering to the country's identity. I would be proud to wear this!

Sweden

I love this! Everyone is in coats and blazers, but team Sweden pulls off the casual chic vibe so effortlessly. Also, love the clever (preppy) incorporation of the Swedish flag's colors-- the end result is refreshing and sharp.

Italy

Italy is in my top 3 because their men are hot. Not a valid reason? Fine, the suits are designed by Giorgio Amarni, who is one of the Gods of Suits (I made that up on the spot), and everyone looks damn fine in it.

Also, the true reason why they made my top choices is because their sportswear is just as sleek and classic as the formal suits. Both the suits and the athletic wear are clearly from the same cohesive collection, and they look damn good despite being monotone. This proves that your uniform doesn't need to have your national colors plastered over it to be considered 'great'.

Moving on to some uniforms that I really like as well but didn't make the cut into top 3:

Switzerland

I am a huge fan of gray, so I love this cool contrast of the gray and red. Smart, sharp, cool. Need I say more?

Denmark

This is (American) sportswear** done to excellence! Love the simplicity of everything.

** Contrary to what the name suggests, sportswear as fashion term doesn't refer to athletic/ gym garb. Instead:

"Sportswear has been called America's main contribution to the history of fashion design. The term became popular in the 1920s to describe relaxed, casual wear typically worn for spectator sports. Since the 1930s the term is used to describe both day and evening fashions of varying degrees of formality that demonstrate this relaxed approach while remaining appropriate wear for many business or social occasions. Due to their identical spellings, this term is easily confused with sportswear, which describes clothing specifically for participants in sporting pursuits and activewear." -- Wikipedia

Australia

This reminds me of my prefect's uniform, and not in a good way. That being said, that is only a memory exclusive to me, and thus I can appreciate the sentiments behind the preppy, semi-utilitarian uniform.

We are progressively moving to the worse outfits, can you tell?

Germany

Puffer jackets color-coded by gender? What were they thinking???

But to give credit to the Germans, the outfit doesn't look quite as bad close(r)-up. But it's still a 'Nay' for me.

New Zealand

This isn't so bad... You are thinking. Agreed, though I wish I can yank off those dratted printed scarves off their necks.

But the New Zealanders really should have spent more effort on their sportswear! This looks like the factory overruns from their national rugby team, All Blacks. Bo-ring.

Russia

I think these boys are kind of cute, and therefore they salvage the atrocity of these tracksuits. By the way, 'privet' means 'Hello' in Russian. For me, it's more of a Goodbye and Good Riddance.

Jamaica

Jamaica nearly fell into my worst-dressed list. Nearly.

They were salvaged by their cool-looking sports garb. Or maybe I am temporarily distracted by abs again.

And now, ladies and gentlemen, we have reached the bottom of the barrel... What, in my opinion, is the 3 worst-dressed teams. In no particular order, we have:

China

They looked like The Annoying Orange has been splatted on them. Every time I as much as lay my eyes on this picture, I get a headache. And what is with the expression of the guy in the middle? Is he thinking of starting another meme, like yaoming.jpg?

Malaysia

I seriously have no words. Ok fine, I lied. I have only one. Flintstones. I don't see the relevance of tigers to our national identity, and whilst Italy managed to pull off a flawless uniform without incorporating their national colors, ours was a big flop. Not to mention a ginormous eyesore.

Spain

The pain in my eyes from our national Olympics uniform is only slightly abated after seeing Spain's uniform. The designer must have wanted to play a joke on the team, and tada, here is the result. But I do think that Spain's uniform can still be salvaged-- i.e. it probably doesn't look so bad if the jacket isn't zipped all the way up. Maybe.

It may or may not be coincidental, but I guess there is a lesson to observe from the worst-dressed list-- avoid orange/yellow combination like the plague wtf.

Anyway, there you go, my top 3 best-dressed and worst-dressed teams for Olympics 2012. Do you agree with me? What are your picks? :D

Wedding weekend.

Slightly late for this, but I am back from Tim and Aud's wedding in Penang over the weekend! I was one of the bridesmaids, and it was really the experience of a lifetime. :')

That being said, it was seriously tiring! I still haven't recovered from my weekend, to be honest. -_- I can't even imagine how Aud feels!

Anyway, just thought I will post up some pictures from the weekend! I forgot to bring my camera to Penang, so all pictures are from my iPhone and Facebook.

Love love love this shot! This was taken during the ROM-- officially man and wife. :)

A proper group shot of all the bridesmaids, there are 8 of us!
L-R: Ringo, Bobo, Jiameei, Wendy, me, Suet, Tze, Angela.

We are dressed in the colors of rainbow (well, kinda, I mean, rainbows should totally have pink as a color wtf), in accordance to the Up theme of Audrey's wedding! We were all assigned a color, and I was originally supposed to be in red. However the tailor didn't have any red fabric, so I got fuchsia instead, which I was secretly happy about. Alas, my dress was too small!! O_O Luckily Ringo's dress (green) was a little too big on her, so we swapped dresses. And that's how come I ended up in a green dress.

Some of the bridesmaids with all of the best men. All very eligible ar.

The ROM was held in Tim's family house yard, which is perched on top of a hill overlooking a magnificent view (seaview yo!). It was quite windy and the balloons kept on hitting us on our faces wtf.

Beautiful Aud in her wedding gown before the groom came to pick up the bride. When she was still looking for her ideal wedding dress, she declared that she wants something like what a princess would wear, and I think her wedding gown totally fits the bill! :')

Another group shot before the groom and the best men arrived.

All of us (the bridesmaids) came from different parts of the world-- KL, Kuala Pilah wtf (Suet is a teacher there), Singapore, Vancouver... But we had this chance to be united under this beautiful occasion and be girlfriends! We didn't know every single one of us prior to the wedding, but after the hen's night and the wedding weekend, we are sending teary goodbye messages to each other wtf.

Taken from Tim's Instagram.
The bridesmaids made an impromptu decision to release the balloons in our hands (each of us had a matching colored balloon) the moment the groom kissed the bride after they were pronounced husband and wife. So happy that someone caught a picture of this!

The back of Audrey's dress. I love how her wedding gown still has an element of 'Audrey' in it, it's totally her!

Ending with one of my favorite bridesmaids + bride shot. :)
