Cristang.

I am going talk about the yummy pork burger I mentioned in my previous post! :D

I am sure it's no secret that the boyfriend and I LOVE food, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that we are always looking at new places to tantalize our tastebuds. The thing is, the boyfriend usually has an upperhand, 'cause his sense of direction is so much better than mine. T__T Any place which is situated in KL, is almost always a no-go for me, 'cause I am like a blind man without a cane in KL wtf.

So sometime ago, I came about Cristang's FB page (led to it by loads of recommendation links), and thought: Aha, finally somewhere in PJ! Confirmed it'll be easy-peasy for a PJ kid like me to find my way around town.

According the the FB page, Cristang is renowned for its pork burgers. The boyfriend and I have always been big fans of piggies wtf, so it only was natural for me to be excited to bring him there.

Alas, in the end the boyfriend was the one who brought me there. T_T

Running whizzing kids.

So cute!
Everytime they ran past us, they will squeal "Hello!" :D

My GPS wtf.

The place is located at 8 Avenue, PJ (where the fuck is that??), which is quite quiet, especially on a public holiday.

Bacon and egg soup! I have never heard of anything like that before!

The egg is a perfect, tear-drop poached egg; and you are supposed to break the egg yolk into soup before devouring it. It was all very refreshing for us (especially for me who generally likes to break things wtf), and very deliciously so!

My trademark burger-- pork burger with minced meat cooked with petai.

Petai?? I heard you ask in horror.
I was very skeptical when I first read the menu too!! I usually try to avoid petai because of bad experiences when I was younger-- my dad bombs the toilet after big hearty petai meals and laugh when the toilet smells of petai WTF.

But I assure you, it was definitely one of the top 3 burgers I have ever had! Not to mention it's not that easy to find pork burgers in KL. It was juicy, flavorful, and the spicy, tangy fried minced meat added an interesting dimension to the burger. Thumbs up!

The minced meat + bacon + juicy pork patty = sinfully good meal

The boyfriend's burger has cajun prawns on top!

Anyway, if you are interested in Cristang (and you should be!), here are the details:

Accessories in matchy colors. :P

I had fun dancing around the boyfriend ala MC Hammer HAHAHA.

I am a happy, happy girl! I finally got a pair of black leather Converse sneakers yesterday! :D The boyfriend promised to get me a pair of (work) shoes since my shoes suffered a horrible death wtf, but I couldn't find anything that I like! Work shoes are so expensive, and are ALL uncomfortable. Oh well, fate led me to my happy Converse shoes, and in the end, the boyfriend got me the Converse instead! I got him a pair as well, so the next time I am back in KL, we are going to be a sappy matching outfit shoes couple. :P

Well-fed.

I am rubbing my rounded belly now, and I don't even feel guilty!! :P

'Cause I was so busy (and sick) last week, all I ate was pizzas (despite my protesting throat), porridge, else, I would just go without eating at all. Every meal was eaten hurriedly, munching away while I continued to tap away my lap, churning workpapers after workpapers. Needless to say, I felt so unsatisfied!

When I came back this weekend, I whined and whined to the boyfriend and my sisters, so I have been eating great food non-stop for the past 2 days. *rubs belly lovingly* One of the highlights would be one of the best pork burger I have eaten, will post up pictures when I am less lazy. :P

And I have shopped quite a bit in these 2 days! Working hard is detrimental to my bank account. T_T Or rather, Jing's account, haha. 'Cause I forgot to bring back extra SGD to exchange, and I haven't gotten my lazy butt to the bank to withdraw some ringgit, Jing has basically been acting as my bank account. :D I spent the last hour furiously hanging away all the things I have bought in the past month or so. Whilst it is satisfying to fold and hang the clothing away according to color and length and type, it scares me how many things in my wardrobe I have never worn before. :/ How I wish I am working in an industry where I can wear my own personal clothes! then all my babies will get to see the light. T_T

I gave up packing my clothes after sometime. I have successfully cleared up all the new purchases, but I still have so so so many clothes just lying around!! Sien. Will get to it during X'mas or something (I'll be back for 2 weeks, whoop whoop).

Errr... I really should change this habit of posting backlogged pictures instead of brand new ones, but I just feel so LAZYYYY. It's the Saturday night syndrome. :P

Old pictures (from 2 weeks ago) again!

Jing!

We were at Pasta Zanmai, and ordered too much food for our own good:

Pasta Katsu Don.

My mini Chicken Teriyaki pasta! With a poached egg that I could break the runny egg yolk over it. :P

Mini Japanese pizza with scallops for me as well. I am a variety kind of girl!

Some funky starter dish.

With shrimp, fish roe, egg mayo on cucumber.

With unagi wrapped springroll skin. Jing and I unanimously agreed that it tasted like Peking duck, haha.

My favorite, deep fried oysters! Not enough though, there was only one for each of us.

Happy moving fringe. :P

Faded denim motorcycle jacket: Miss Selfridge
Navy tank with tie-dyed fringe: Dorothy Perkins
Gray leopard print bodycon skirt: Miss Selfridge
Black leopard (cheetah?) pendant necklace: Topshop

Black studded heels: Zara

My unbrella has cocks all over it! wtf

Right here.

I worked till at least 11pm for the whole of this week.

I either starved, or had Pizza Hut every night. Despite the fact that my throat still hurts from my flu last week.

I didn't even have time to talk to the boyfriend, let alone chat to my sisters/friends, or do basic online stuff like checking my email.

Every day I shuffled my feet to work, feeling a zombie 'cause I always didn't have enough sleep the night before.

My bus was delayed last night, and I reached home almost 2 hours later than the original designated time.

But I am home now, and I am happy. :)
For these 3 days I am not going to think about work, and just enjoy the crappy punchlines of the boyfriend, and talk my heart's out with my sisters (especially Teeny who has came back from Aussie!). :)

*************************************************

On a side note, half of the sole of my shoe came out yesterday during work.

And my colleague came up with the brilliant idea of using scotch tape. How glam! T____T

'Cause times like this.

I am absolutely swarmed with worry now, drowning, barely swimming, barely threading, barely breathing.

I called the boyfriend just now, and he answered me with his sleepy voice. But there was something... wrong with the groggy voice. I heard the word 'sick' and some mumbling and the the word 'mum' and then a lot of noisy fumbling. I just stayed on the line, utterly confused. Not long after, the boyfriend's mom picked up the phone. What she told me came in a blur. He got a serious bout of food poisoning, and has been vomiting. He's so weak that he can't even talk. He's at the clinic now waiting for jab. She will get him to call me when he feels better. All I could say was "Oh... Ok... Oh.. Ok.." when I really wanted to bombard her. "Is he ok???" "What happened?" "What did he eat?" "Which clinic are you all at now" "Does he feel cold?"

"Does he need me?"

I didn't ask any of those questions. I just hung up. And I am on a standby now. Waiting. Waiting for a phone call to assure me that he is ok.

Hate this feeling. Kind of feel like doomsday is looming.. only it's the opposite? I am in doomsday now, waiting for some kind of comfort. I picked up a magazine, flipped through it absent-mindedly and dropped it down again. I clicked on the Desperate Housewife episode which I have diligently downloaded, but my mind can't concentrate. I want to talk to someone, anyone, to take my mind off, but no one is online at 10.30 on a Sunday night.

It is times like these that makes me just want to pack up my bags right now and leave. Back home, back where I belong. Not being able to be there when it matters is killing me. No amount of money is ever going to make up for this. I want out.

And I guess as the minutes of the digital clock on my mobile phone ticked away so silently, the only thing I can do is continue to wait....

Sickpop, oops I mean Chicpop.

I finally feel human again!

The past few days have been living hell... the only oxymoron is that I feel dead most of the time. Sometimes I get surprised by my own dedication to my work, especially when I don't even enjoy my job that much. I went for drinks last night with my colleagues for yet another colleague's farewell (it's really demotivating to see people you enjoy working with go.. but that's another story for another day), and all I had was warm water. -_- Everytime I asked for more warm water, I can practically see the waitress roll her eyes-- I bet she thinks I am a cheapo.

I think this is the longest I have been sick since... a loooong time. Usually even when I get flu or something, I would recover after about 3-4 days max. But I have been sick since last last Thursday, and till today, I am still shuffling between feeling mildly ok and feeling like I want to die. Working late and not resting enough last week didn't help, and also, my client's place was near the airport, so there was not much dinner options during those long nights that we have to work overtime. So my team mates order fast food, and I have no choice but to eat along with them. :( That really made my sore throat worse. :( Besides that, 'cause I was feeling so ill and lethargic, yet I had to deliver, I basically survived on 2-3 cups of coffees a day-- and we all know coffees are heaty. Really, last week was all about survival (in work).

Although I woke up today after sleeping for 12 hours (a much welcomed rest after working late and not having enough rest for the past week), I still felt like crap. I have just finished one whole box of tissues, and now my nose feels raw. Watson's velvety facial tissues, puii. Nonetheless, after popping all my pills and inhaling some drugs into my lungs WTF (some fancy drug courtesy of daddy) and another evening nap, I am feeling better again. At least I feel mildly conscious. -_- Can watch Project Runway wtf. I still have a pile of work to do, but I think it's best I leave it for tomorrow. Today is going to be about me time. Me-recovery time.

******************************************

I only have one picture from last week's Chicpop bazaar! And even then, it's from Jing's camera. -_- Sorry la, I was very engrossed in shopping! And I also felt a little self-conscious of my skin; I didn't really want people to recognise me. T_T I had one or two people who came up to me and asked me "what happened to your skin???", and whilst I have nothing to hide, it can get a little uncomfortable to explain the whole skin trauma I am going through. :(

With Steph (left) and Melly (right) whom I met in the Chicpop Samsung event.

I was really looking forward to the bazaar! I missed the first one-- long gone were the days that I purposely go back to KL for junkyard sales and flea markets, haha. Jing went for the first one, and her exact words to me were:"Che, you are going to LOVE it! I bet you would have bought damn a lot of things if you went!", and that got me excited for the second one obviously.

Well, I sure bought quite a bit of things! Last count was 20 items. -_- Vaguely I remember 3 vintage shirts, black lace drapy shorts, a black structure netting skirt which I am SO SO SO crazy over, a leopard print bustier top, snake print skirt, studded tee, some strong shouldered dresses... Mmmm, happy! Only thing is, the things at the bazaar weren't cheap at all. Loads of girls that I was chatting to complained that the things there were quite expensive. The average price range was around RM40-50-ish? Well, it wasn't a junkyard sale where people sell their second hand items, so I guess we can't expect the sellers to let go of their items for dirt cheap either. Nevertheless, I have to admit I was shell-shocked when I saw this AWESOME FIERCE leggings which has Gareth Pugh written all over it bore a price tag of >RM1K. :/

Outfit:

Black sheer tank: Far East Plaza, Singapore
Gold lamé bra: La Senza
Black and gold houndtooth full skirt: Jing's
Gold and silver spike layered necklace: Topshop
Oversized faux pearl ring: Topshop
Silver rings (assorted): Random
Black studded heels: Zara
Bag: Miu Miu

I left all my buys in KL-- haven't even had a chance to do a stock count yet; else I would have posted up some pictures of my buys. Can't wait to go back next weekend (long weekend, woohoo!) and rummage through my buys! It will be like a shopping spree all over again wtf.

Wish me a speedy recovery everyone! So many things I wanna talk about.. I want to do an update on my skin soon too!

One thing before I go... If I feel like buying shoes online now, does it mean I am not really sick? WTF

Help!

I feel really miserable now. :(

I have been feeling feverish on and off this week, and I am really heaty now. I feel like I am going to implode from all this heat.

Been working till 11pm for the past 3 days. Which is bearable (but undesirable) when I am healthy and fit; and absolutely torturous when I am sick. Especially when all I want to do is to crawl up in my bed and sleep.

Most likely have to work this weekend as well.

Taking medical leave is not an option. Too. Much. Work.

Just wanted to rant.

All in 2 days' work.

Updates over the weekend:

1. I fell sick. Truly there must be some kind of law against falling sick during weekends??? My dad was so worried that I have H1N1 that he made me take this inhaler drug thingy that makes me feel like a drug addict, twice a day wtf. I am so sick that I am on MC today And the thing is, I am not even enjoying my day off. I have a bowl of porridge in front of me, hot soy milk on my right, and two giant bottles of herbal tea on my left. Behind me are all my medications. Sigh.

2. I went for a body massage on Saturday! My 3rd ever massage in my life. *feels sad for self* I have been dying for a massage... since SPM wtf-- which was when I studied 10 hours a day and got myself achy neck and shoulders for the rest of my life. -_- I had the whole Saturday afternoon to myself, so I thought it's time to treat myself to a 2-hour long massage. The knots in my muscles are gone now, but the massage was too short (despite being 2-hour long) for me to fully enjoy it! It was over before I know it. T_T Or maybe I just like being touched by people WTF.

3. I went to the Chicpop flea at Zouk yesterday, and it was really fun! Maybe 'cause I went there with the motive to shop with a vengeance wtf. Jing and I budgeted RM300 to be the maximum expenditure we could spend there... Let's just say I spent a little more than that. But I did a swift count (can't really recall what I bought, 'cause after we left Zouk, Jing zoomed us home for me to pack and leave for Singapore. T___T), and I bought 20 items! 20 items divided by RMXXX that I spent... I reckon I still got some bargains. :P

No pictures from the recent weekend yet, I am too tired to even walk to my bag to get my camera to upload the pictures. Here are some older ones.

Starting off with Jing's graceful finger wtf. This was back when she still had her finger brace on. She has since removed it, but her finger is still slightly bent. Fuck her life.

The consequence of not curling my hair properly after washing it.

Jing making me laugh mid-eating.

She is not trying to be deliberately rude, hahaha.

Shampoo commercial wtf.

Bangles are love!

In GSC cinema... Jing is known to sound like Alvin and the Chipmunk, haha.

The aftermath of the picture. -________-

Gold spiked bangle and silver studed bangle: Singapore

Lesson time!

Random things I have learned from my colleague recently:

1) I learned a new word!

Etymology

The history of a linguistic form (as a word) shown by tracing its development since its earliest recorded occurrence in the language where it is found, by tracing its transmission from one language to another, by analyzing it into its component parts, by identifying its cognates in other languages, or by tracing it and its cognates to a common ancestral form in an ancestral language

-Taken from Merriam Webster Online Dictionary-

You have my full admiration if you already know the word, but I honestly have not heard of the word before! *shy* I was chatting with my senior about the phonetics of the word 'nonchalant' (ya, we damn geek hor, haha), and he said it sounded French-- and proceeded to search for its etymology! And that's how hui wen learned about the word. -_-

By the way, the word 'nonchalant' comes from Old French! :P

2) Raccoons wash their paws before they eat.

Taken off Wikipedia (look under "Dousing"):

Raccoons sample food and other objects with their front paws to examine them and to remove unwanted parts. The tactile sensitivity of their paws is increased if this action is performed underwater, since the water softens the horny layer covering the paws.

My colleague asks me random things while we work, and if there is anything that I don't know, he will laugh at me. -___- Kind of like what my boyfriend does to me as well fml.

3) Do you know what orz means???

No. Seriously. Do you know??????

If you do, I really really respect you! T_________________T

A Japanese emoticon representing a kneeling or bowing person, with the "o" being the head, the "r" being the arms and part of the body, and the "z" being part of the body and the legs. This stick figure represents failure and despair. t is also commonly used for representing a great admiration (sometimes with an overtone of sarcasm) for someone else's view or action.

-Taken off Wikipedia (look under Posture Emoticon)-

You get it???

orz

Does it look like a kneeling dude to you? :P

4) Today at work, my colleagues and I were laughing and talking (loudly) over our hot desk partitions, and we got a telling-off from our manager. T___T Shortly after, I got an email from my senior with the heading (and link):

In the email he said that since we are so noisy, it's best we start learning sign language, HAHAHA. And we spent the day showing each other a fist, while turning the other hand's index finger on top of it (please refer to the "Asshole in ASL" illustration HAHAHA).

It's good to know I am learning so much at work WTF, hahahaha.

************************************************

Since I have posted such a long post (although all paraphrased from other sites wtf), I am just going to post up a few pictures! (blogging tactic: words>, pictures <; words <, pictures > WTF)

Dad's birthday late August. And yes, my brother perpetually looks bored. -_-

With birthday man!
Now we know where my brother got his expression genes from WTF.

With Jing.

Grandparents!

Sparklies. :P

It's hard to imagine sometimes, and just so recently, my skin was still ok. :((((
